Montreal-based The World Provider has humbly described himself as “The World’s Leading Casio Karaoke Striptease Entertainer.” His tunes range from lo-fi keyboard punk to ass-kicking rock anthems, by way of distorted, sped-up folk classics – performed entirely on cheap synthesizers of varying vintages. As for his high-energy, multiple-costumed live shows, one critic perhaps summarized it best when he declared: “anyone who’s seen the balls-out, carnivalesque crooner live knows he doesn’t do anything half-assed.”

Carry It Forward, a production of Hard Working Pictures is offering musicians and venues participating in WWMD the opportunity to show a preview of Carry It Forward at their event. Some musicians and venues are offering their concert to be a benefit for Carry It Forward. This is fantastic! We welcome the support and encouragement for our work in producing a documentary about the work and lives of Paul and Sheila Wellstone.
We are committed to having available Paul and Sheila's images and voices as broadly as we can this day. We want to join in celebrating the lives and contributions of Senator Paul Wellstone, Sheila Wellstone, Marcia Markuson Wellstone, Mary McEvoy,, Tom Lapic and Will McLaughlin. Our intention is to bring hope and inspiration to as many people as possible in the weeks leading up to October 25th, the first anniversary of the crash as well as on this day. We want to be a part of WWMD by having the trailer shown in as many venues hosting a concert as have the capability to show it. This 15-minute trailer is what we have to contribute in honoring those lost.

We also notice Cafe Mundi's amazing job of keeping up with the outdoor beautiful garden, and how people can toss cigarett buts, trash, napkins, cups and anything else their lazy asses cant get up to throw away or put in a bus tub. The city of Austin is taking away the austin music channel. Whats next?
The austin music channel is the only reason i have cable in the first place. I dont watch a lot of television unless its football or music.
The city of austin is really starting to worry me when it comes to local music suppport. Afterall its a very major part of the cities attraction.
They do a lot but personally i dont think they are doing enough. Sure they do everything for the more established bands & musicians but what about the up and coming bands that could rate well given a chance.
I have noticed over the years that attendance by the locals on 6th steet has really gone down. For one i wish they would do a better job of keeping it clean. The little grates around the trees have had the same trash piles
around them for months. The same texas size chunks of gum are still stuck to the sidewalks that were there last time i was on 6th.
I know 6th steet isn't the total austin music package but its a biggie. Get the fire department down there and flush out the drainage sewers,they stink.
Make it more attractive than it is.
I have heard some really harsh comments from people visiting. A musician i met from seattle at SXSW said "So this is what the big fuss is about, I dont see it." Well im starting to get blind to it myself.
Come on city of austin, dont take away what Stevie Ray built for you. Get on your toe's and do something about it.
Dont turn the live music capital into
the live music crapital. We need you and we need you now.
The austin music channel plays a very important role in getting certain musicians seen that normally would go unoticed by some.
Take away Leslie from running for office but please dont take away the austin music channel.

Cafe Mundi is a really cool place! However, I don't think it's too cool (or hygienic) to handle the food more than necessary. In other words, when you go to serve a sweet roll (or something else out of the bakery case) don't just pick it up with your fingers and put it on a plate. Use a wax paper sheet or tongs! Thanks! |
